Television cooking show host Rachael Ray was blamed for Reader’s Digest Association’s third-quarter loss, reports Adweek.com.

The publishing company said it lost $16.6 million in the third quarter before interest, depreciation and amortization, with much of the loss pegged to Every Day with Rachael Ray, a magazine based on the TV personality that was sold to Meredith last month, the story says.

Reader’s Digest said the magazine lost $5.6 million in the quarter, the piece adds.

  1. I’m sure it had nothing to do with the fact that Reader’s Digest Magazine isn’t anywhere near as good as it used to be. We subscribed for over 40 years, but I dropped the subscription a couple years ago because the quality dropped off so much. Easier to blame someone other than themselves, I guess.

  2. Ol’ Rachel should go on a diet of her own–just like Nancy Graceless should as well. Two tons of joy could stand to lose a few pounds…
