Spike TV has named a Disney/ABC Cable Networks Group executive to the post of executive VP, programming, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Tom Zappala, recently the executive vice president of acquisitions and scheduling at Disney/ABC, gets the Spike job, the story reports.
In a statement, Spike TV President Kevin Kay said: “We are thrilled to have one of the top programmers in the industry join our team. Tom has a proven track record of success and we look forward to utilizing his wealth of programming experience as Spike continues to grow and expand its audience.”
At Spike, Zappala will be in charge of the network’s scheduling, media planning and acquisitions. Spike is currently trying to expand its demographic beyond its mainly male viewership.
