Star of CBS Sitcom Complains of Lack of Support From Network

The star of a CBS comedy series tells TVGuide.com that the show hasn’t been supported by CBS "from the very beginning."

"Rules of Engagement" star Patrick Warburton spoke out after CBS said it would pull the show off its schedule at midseason to make room for Rob Schneider’s new comedy, the story says. CBS also cut the episode order for “Rules” to 15.

"Whenever we end up in a decent time slot, we always do well, but they’ve never given us any support," Warburton said, according to the story.

The show had intended its season finale to focus on the birth of the child of Warburton’s character via a surrogate, but now it’s unclear how the order cut will affect those plans, or whether there will be a seventh season, the story says.

  1. Support? What about attracting viewers? Either the show does it or doesn’t, and support won’t change that. Maybe for a new show. But the days of network support making a difference are long, long gone, especially for an established show.
