The CBS sitcom "Two and a Half Men" has cast a well-known film actress as the mother of Ashton Kutcher’s character, Walden Schmidt, reports Deadline.com.

Actress Mimi Rogers will play the role on at least two episodes, the story reports. According to the character outline, Walden’s mother is very, very smart, a primatologist, which could explain why he is a genius billionaire.

Rogers shared a Daytime Emmy nomination with Dustin Hoffman and others in 2000 as an executive producer on the children’s special “The Devil’s Arithmetic.” She had a breakthrough film role in 1987 in “Someone to Watch Over Me.” She played Agent Diana Fowley in a recurring role on “The X-Files” in the late 1990s.
