ABC Television has made a deal with Creative Mobile Technologies, the company that programs the television screens in the back of taxis, to provide show clips, news reports and ads, reports Deadline.com.

The ABC material will be appearing in 10,000 cabs, starting as soon as the driver turns on the meter. The ABC-TV content will be seen primarily in New York City cabs — 6,600 of them — but will also show up in Chicago, San Francisco, Boston, Anaheim, Kansas City, Denver, Columbus, and Charlotte taxis.

The agreement goes into effect Jan. 1, 2012.

Dave Davis, president and general manager of WABC-TV in New York, said the deal “significantly expands the growth opportunities ahead for our taxi TV programming and advertising business.”
