A journalist who’s definitely got a comic bent — he’s a former correspondent for Jon Stewart and is a panelist on NPR’s hit comedy news show "Wait, Wait, Don’t Tell Me" — has now been promoted to CBS correspondent.

In a piece by our good friend David Lieberman on Deadline.com that carries the headline "Mo Rocca Becomes A CBS News Correspondent, With An Explanation," Lieberman writes that "CBS hasn’t forgotten the distinction between fake news and the real thing."

He then goes on to quote the CBS News announcement of Rocca’s hiring: " ‘His title is Correspondent, CBS Sunday Morning, but we see Mo, as we see all our ‘Sunday Morning’ contributors, as a ‘columnist,’ bringing his own unique — and it is unique — perspective to everything he does,’ commented  ‘Sunday Morning’ Executive Producer Rand Morrison."

Rocca, who’s been a contributor for "CBS Sunday Morning" for a while, is also, the announcement notes, a "a humorist, actor and Emmy Award-winning writer."
