Fox News’ Prime-Time Block Lost Viewers in 2011

Fox News Channel’s prime-time lineup lost viewers in 2011, according to The Hollywood Reporter’s The Live Feed blog. But the network still beat CNN and MSNBC combined, the story notes.

Fox News declined 9% in prime time for the year, with an average of 2.2 million total viewers on weekdays through Dec. 15, the story reports. In cable-news networks’ target demographic of viewers 25-54, Fox News declined 15%.

MSNBC drew 251,000 viewers on average this year in the demographic, beating CNN’s 238,000, the story notes. In total viewers, MSNBC averaged 902,000, compared with 735,000 for CNN.

Both MSNBC and CNN saw their ratings improve. CNN is up 16% in total viewers in prime time, while MSNBC rose 4% in total viewers, the story reports.
