Sunday’s season finale of "Homeland" was a ratings winner for Showtime, pulling in the biggest audience for any first-year show in the network’s history, The New York Times’ Media Decoder blog reports.

The first airing of the show drew 1.1 million viewers, the story reports. Including Sunday night repeats, more than 2 million viewers reportedly tuned in.

That number is likely to double after Showtime adds in other repeat airings, on-demand viewing and other streaming, the story says.

"Dexter" ended its season with 2.7 million viewers on Sunday, the piece adds.
