Fox Rolls Out Plans for Return of ‘Idol,’ Debuts of Kiefer Sutherland Drama and Other New Shows

The hit singing competition "American Idol" will return on Fox with a two-night premiere starting Wednesday, Jan. 18, reports the Los Angeles Times’ Show Tracker blog.

Fox has also scheduled the debut of Kiefer Sutherland’s new drama, "Touch," for Monday, March 19, at 9 p.m., the story says. "Touch" is created by Tim Kring of "Heroes" and marks Sutherland’s return to Fox after his successful run on "24," the story notes.

J.J. Abrams’ "Alcatraz" will have a two-hour series premiere on Monday, Jan. 16, while "The Finder," a spinoff of "Bones," will premiere Thursday, Jan. 12, the story says. The animated series "Napoleon Dynamite" will debut after “The Simpsons” as part of Fox’s "Animation Domination Sundays" on Jan. 15, the piece adds.
