Nickelodeon Greenlights Series, Announces Third Installment in TV Movie Franchise

Nickelodeon has given a 20-episode series order and announced a third movie in a franchise that began as a series of YouTube posts, Deadline.com reports.

The "Fred" franchise, which started as a series of YouTube movies from teen comic Lucas Cruikshank, received the series order and the order for a third TV movie, the story says.

The order comes on the heels of the debut of "Fred 2: Night of the Living Fred," which drew 5.7 million viewers, the story notes. "Fred 3" will debut in 2012, according to the article.

The series, which will consist of 11-minute episodes, will start production at year-end for a debut in early 2012, the story says. Cruikshank debuted his "Fred" YouTube channel in April 2008, chronicling the life the fictional 6-year-old with anger management issues, the piece adds.
