E! President Suzanne Kolb tells TheWrap.com that the Kardashian clan, which is the focus of the network’s "Keeping Up with the Kardashians," is popular because "people aspire to be them or to befriend them."
Kolb notes that she believes the family is also popular because it is "an incredibly bonded, loving, large family who live an incredibly large life," the story notes. She says “Keeping Up” is the first reality program to depict such a family.
E! will debut scripted shows in 2013, which Kolb says will be "something that really fits into pop culture now and fits into that landscape," according to the piece. "We’re looking at starting a 60-minute [show] as our ideal scenario and we’re looking at kind of a dramedy. I don’t think we’d put anything on the air that’s super, super dark."
