NBC has bought an hourlong project executive produced by a "Law & Order: SVU" star, reports Deadline.com. The show from Mariska Hargitay is set behind the scenes at a reality program, the story reports.
The project, called "American Dream," is “described as a bitingly funny, risque and sophisticated melodrama about the symbiotic relationship between network executives and the ‘talent’ in a reality television series,” the story says.
"American Dream" is also from feature producer Andrew Lazar and Steve Shainberg, the director of the 2002 film "Secretary," the piece adds. Shainberg is also attached to direct the pilot, the story notes.
"Jersey Shore" producer Paul Kolsby wrote the script, and also developed it with Shainberg and Lazar, the piece says. Hargitay loved the script and joined as an executive producer, taking it to NBC executives through her producing deal at the network, the story notes.
