2011 was a big year for bonehead tweets, with Alec Baldwin, Gilbert Gottried and Ice-T just a few of the high-profile Twitter users to make memorable blunders. The Hollywood Reporter recently compiled a list of the 11 most ill-fated tweets of the year, with all of the above celebrities, along with Ashton Kutcher, Anthony Weiner and others, among the biggest offenders.

Here are a few of the biggest Twitter gaffes of 2011, according to THR:

"theresalwaysunited Last flight with American. Where retired Catholic school gym teachers from the 1950′s find jobs as flight attendants." — Alec Baldwin, after his tantrum that got him kicked off an American Airlines flight

“Bruce, he let me down.” — James Franco, blaming Oscars writer Bruce Vilanch for his poorly received stint as co-host

"310-954-7277 Call me bro. C." — Charlie Sheen, trying to send his phone number to Justin Bieber but sending it to his 5 million Twitter followers instead

"I just split up with my girlfriend, but like the Japanese say, ‘They’ll be another one floating by any minute now.’" — Gilbert Gottfried after the tsunami in Japan, getting himself fired from his Aflac gig

"Bad joke… But alotta those wives would make m consider it." — Ice-T, reacting to “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” husband Russell Armstrong’s suicide

"How do you fire Jo Pa? #insult #noclass as a hawkeye fan I find it in poor taste." — Ashton Kutcher, apparently taking the wrong side in the Penn State child abuse scandal before getting his facts straight

Also making the list, New York Congressman Anthony Weiner’s post of a “lewd self-portrait” that effectively ended his political career.
