Oprah Winfrey, who was buried in bad news throughout 2011 as her fledgling cable network struggled in the ratings, finally has some good news to celebrate.
USA Today reports that the talk show diva’s new OWN series, “Oprah’s Next Chapter,” pulled in the network’s highest Sunday premiere numbers ever, drawing 1.1 million total viewers.
The report adds: “Oprah chatted up Steven Tyler at his house at Lake Sunapee, New Hampshire, on the show, which also became the highest-rated premiere for a series on OWN outside of the network’s launch weekend. It ranked just behind the premiere of ‘Season 25: Oprah Behind the Scenes’ on Jan. 1, 2011, which pulled in 1.2 million viewers.”
The hook for “Next Chapter” is that the veteran host is no longer confined to the studio as she conducts her high-profile interviews. Winfrey is reportedly committed to producing 70 hours of the show in 2012.
