Along with an upcoming HBO documentary, Elton John has a biopic in the works based on his life, and he has revealed his choice for the actor who will play him. Sir Elton said during an interview with the Los Angeles Times that he wants to be played by Justin Timberlake.

Said the veteran pop star: “No. 1 on my wish list is Justin Timberlake, because he played me before in a David LaChapelle video of ‘Rocket Man’ and was superb.”

The biopic project reportedly has a director on board, and the singer says an announcement is coming soon about who it will be. Lee Hall (“Billy Elliot”) has written the script, John said.

The singer added: “It’s going to be a surreal look at my life, and not just a factual look at my life, more in the manner of a ‘Moulin Rouge!’ I just don’t want it to be a normal biopic because my life hasn’t been like that.”

HBO will soon premiere a documentary by Cameron Crowe on the making of the album “The Union,” a collaboration between Sir Elton and Leon Russell, the story notes.
