After coming under fire for signing on as a spokeswoman for a diabetes medication, television chef Paula Deen said she will donate a portion of her earnings to the American Diabetes Association, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
As previously reported, Deen received her diabetes diagnosis three years ago, prompting some to criticize her for keeping her illness hidden for so long.
Despite her pledge, the American Diabetes Association had yet to hear from Deen about her offer, reports USA Today.
Deen made the pledge Wednesday during a segment of the ABC food talk show "The Chew,” the story notes. Neither Deen nor Novo Nordisk, which makes the diabetes drug Victoza, disclosed how much her endorsement deal will pay.
