A spinoff of the hit Fox series “Glee” is dead, and a “Glee” star whose character is graduating will be back for season four, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

"Glee" star Cory Monteith said he will return for the show’s fourth season, as the show’s co-creator Ryan Murphy has created a conceit to return the show’s graduating seniors, THR’s The Live Feed blog reports.

Monteith, speaking at Fox’s Television Critics Association winter press tour party, said, "People are going to graduate and their story lines will carry on through graduation into Season 4, also keeping the William McKinley High School paradigm intact and building in elements of characters who have graduated."

Lea Michele, who plays Rachel, will also return, the story notes.

The notes comes as Fox Entertainment chief Kevin Reilly told reporters at the TCA press tour that the planned "Glee" spinoff is dead, according to a separate Hollywood Reporter story.

The spinoff idea was that some of the show’s graduating seniors would move to New York to follow their Broadway dreams, the story says.
