A cable show that had its season premiere last week came in as the highest-rated telecast on cable this season in the 12-34 demo, New York Magazine’s Vulture blog reports.
The show is last week’s fifth-season debut of MTV’s "Jersey Shore." The telecast was watched by 7.6 million viewers, making it the top cable show of the 2011-12 season among 12 to 34 year-old viewers, the story notes.
The numbers ranked it as the second-highest-rated series on both cable and broadcast TV in the current season among the same demographic, the piece adds. Only the season debut of CBS’s "Two and a Half Men" pulled in more viewers in the age group, the story says.
