Hit Series Delivers for PBS in Season Premiere

PBS’s latest hit series returned Sunday for its second season, and came through with big ratings, The New York Times reports in its ArtsBeat blog.

The period drama "Downton Abbey" drew 4.2 million total viewers for its season two premiere, doubling the prime-time rating for the service, the piece notes, citing Nielsen data.

The show also helped boost younger viewers, with PBS seeing an 18% increase in viewers 18 to 49 compared with the show’s first season, the story adds.
