ABC has picked up a reality series from the same company that produces History’s hit show “Pawn Stars,” and the new show sounds like a sports-centric twist on the “Pawn Stars” formula.
The Washington Post reports that “Ball Boys,” from Leftfield Pictures, will examine activities at a Baltimore County sports memorabilia store, Robbie’s 1st Base. ABC has announced an initial order for six episodes.
The shop is reportedly run by four colorful characters: Robbie Sr. and Jr. and their cohorts Sweet Lou and Shaggy. They barter in sports merchandise, autographed and not, trying to determine authenticity and worth, while dealing with customers, often exchanging in "smack talk."
Celebrity athletes such as Pete Rose and Jim Brown will also make appearances, the story reports.
"Ball Boys" will premiere on ABC on Saturday, March 24, at 3 p.m., with two half-hour episodes airing that afternoon.
