NBC News has announced the creation of a new investigative unit to be headed by Jeff Rossen, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

“Today” executive producer Jim Bell made the announcement. The new unit will be called "Rossen Reports," and in addition to airing on “Today,” the stories it produces will run on "NBC Nightly News with Brian Wiliams" and "Dateline."

Rossen, who joined the network in 2008, will be the national investigative correspondent for "Today," the story notes.

In a statement, Bell said: “With unmatched passion and curiosity, Jeff continues to find the new story angle that keeps our viewers informed. His tireless commitment to ‘Today’s’ investigative series makes his new expanded role a perfect fit.”

Rossen won a Daytime Emmy in 2011 as part of the "Today" team, for outstanding morning program. He has also won a solo Emmy for deadline news writing.

Rossen’s work with the “Today Investigates” segment has often focused on hidden-camera exposes and uncovering misbehavior by corporations, the story notes.
