A pop star who sang at Rupert Murdoch’s 1999 wedding is suing News Corp. over claims that its News of the World tabloid later hacked into her voice mail, reports Bloomberg.

The lawsuit from Charlotte Church, who was 13 when she sang at the wedding and is now 25, was filed by Church and her parents in London last month but was made public this week, the story says.

Police provided her with evidence that the tabloid had targeted her phone when she was 17 years old, she told an inquiry in November. She also told the inquiry that another News Corp. tabloid may have tapped into her messages to report her 2007 pregnancy before she had a chance to tell her family and friends, the article adds.

Church also told the inquiry that she waived her $154,290 (or 100,000 pounds) fee for singing at Murdoch’s wedding because she was informed that she would “be looked upon favorably by Mr. Murdoch’s papers," according to the story.

A representative for News Corp.’s U.K. unit News International declined to comment on the lawsuit.

  1. Wow… maybe Ms. Church should just “get over it”.
