Producers of Fox’s long-running “The Simpsons,” which is closing in on its 500th episode, have come up with a way to mark the occasion with the help of big-time fans of the show.

In an attempt to break the Guinness World Record for longest continuous television viewing, fans of the show are being invited to a marathon viewing of all 500 episodes, starting Feb. 8 in Los Angeles, reports The Huffington Post.

The marathon will conclude Feb. 19, the same day the 500th episode will air on Fox. The aim is to break the current Guinness World Record of 86 hours, 6 minutes and 41 seconds, and the winner of the “Ultimate Fan Marathon Challenge,” taking place at Hollywood and Highland, will get special "Simpsons" merchandise and $10,500.

The show already holds some Guinness marks, the story notes, including longest-running animated series, longest-running sitcom and most Emmy Awards for an animated series.
