One of the female leads has been cast for “Anger Management,” Charlie Sheen’s upcoming FX sitcom, Deadline.com reports. Shawnee Smith will play the ex-wife of Sheen’s character, the story reports.
Smith is best known as Ted Danson’s comic foil on the sitcom "Becker." Her "Anger Management" character is a woman looking for her own path in life after ending her marriage to Charlie, the former baseball player portrayed by Sheen.
Another lead female role, Charlie’s therapist, is also being cast, with Selma Blair and Elaine Hendrix testing for it this week, the story reports. The network reportedly still wants to try out other actresses for the role.
Kate Reinders, among the actresses previously reported to be vying for a spot on the show, is also still in the running and has been at the network this week, the story reports.
FX has ordered 10 episodes of "Anger Management," with a deal that will trigger an additional 90 episodes, to be shot over two years on an accelerated schedule, if the first 10 installments hit their ratings target.
