Two shows may bring similar concepts to the air next fall, with ABC placing a pilot order for a project based on the classic fairy tale “Beauty and the Beast,” reports TVLine.com.

The order comes on the heels of the CW’s order for a remake of the late-1980s CBS romantic drama "Beauty and the Beast," as previously reported.

The ABC project is written and executive produced by Jon Steinberg of "Human Target," and is described as a "fantastical reimagining of the classic fairy tale, set in a mythical, dangerous world," the story notes.
