Simon Cowell’s SYCO Entertainment and Will Smith and Jada Pinkett-Smith’s Overbrook Entertainment production company are teaming up for a new, live international reality competition program to find the world’s greatest disc jockeys, reports Deadline.com.

The show has already been in the works for more than a year, with Sony Pictures Television partnering with the stars in the U.S. and England.

In a statement, Andrea Wong, president of International Production for Sony Pictures Television, said, “We are thrilled to be working with Simon Cowell and our partners at Overbrook on what we know will be a tremendously successful global format."

Jada Pinkett-Smith added in the release, “This show will comb the world to find a new breed of talent. I am happy to be creating it alongside Simon Cowell, the Sony team, and my partner Miguel Melendez, on behalf of the Overbrook family.

Cowell also commented, saying: “We have been working on this show for over a year and we wanted to partner with the right people. As soon as I met Jada and Miguel from Overbrook, I knew they would be our ideal partners. DJs are the new rock stars; it feels like the right time to make this show.”

  1. Oh, terrific. JUST what the viewing market has (NOT) been clamoring for.

  2. The article was poorly written. I scratched my head for a minute until I realized they mean DJ’s as in people who spin and mix in clubs, not people who talk on the radio. The latter would not make a great competition show, but the former probably would.
