Online companies including Netflix, YouTube and Hulu have been positioning themselves to cash in on original programming, and they may have company soon in the form of a major competitor: Amazon.

It’s just speculation at this point, and it’s been fired up by a listing for an Amazon.com executive on the professional site LinkedIn. Fortune reports that a quick title change has fueled theories that the online retailer plans to get into original content.

Joe Lewis, a new Amazon.com executive who is based on Los Angeles, listed his title as "vice president of original television at Amazon" on his LinkedIn profile, the story notes. After Amazon.com was asked for comment, Lewis’ title quickly changed to "vice president, production at Amazon Studios," the story notes.

Lewis’ previous experience as director of production at 20th Century Fox and manager of development at Comedy Central hints that he may be part of plans by Amazon to expand into original TV content, the piece adds.
