‘Idol’ Taps Famous Fashion Designer — You Might Be Wearing Him Now — as Image Adviser

A fashion designer who has become a household name is joining Fox’s “American Idol” as its image adviser, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Tommy Hilfiger will provide style tips to contestants on the singing show starting next week, the story reports.

"I admire risk takers who share my belief in the power of fashion to transform and influence, and I look forward to working with the artists to guide them in defining their performance style and identity," Hilfiger said in a statement.

Hilfiger started out selling bell-bottom jeans and styling for his brother’s band when he was 18, the piece notes.
