Jack Bender, the film and TV director known for his work on ABC’s "Lost" and currently executive producer/director of Fox’s "Alcatraz," has left the Paramount reboot of the Jack Ryan action movie series, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Created by novelist Tom Clancy, the Jack Ryan character has been played on the big screen by Harrison Ford, Ben Affleck and Alec Baldwin; the new installment puts Chris Pine ("Star Trek") in the role.

For Bender it came down to a schedule conflict; he also recently accepted the executive producer/director’s role for the Syfy pilot "Rewind."

Paramount is still hoping to get the untitled Ryan movie into production this summer after Pine has completed his work in "Star Trek 2."
