The star of a successful CBS crime drama is taking a break from the show to enter a rehab program, Deadline.com reports.
Alex O’Loughlin, who plays Steve McGarrett on “Hawaii Five-0,” will be forced to miss production on at least one episode of the show while he undergoes treatment for a dependency on pain medication, the story reports.
A representative for O’Loughlin said in a statement: “Alex is taking a short break from ‘Hawaii Five-0’ to receive supervised treatment for prescription pain medication due to a recent shoulder injury.”
The show’s production is ahead of schedule, currently filming episode 20 of the 23-episode order for season two. Episode 20 doesn’t have too much for O’Loughlin’s McGarrett character so it wasn’t an issue. Once that episode wraps, there will be a short break before filming of episode 21 commences.
