Simon Cowell May Have Found His Star Power for ‘X Factor’; Show Offers $10 Million to Singer — One of the Biggest Pop Stars of the Past Decade — to Take Judge’s Job

"The X Factor" has offered $10 million to a major pop star to become a judge on the Fox talent competition show, Deadline.com reports. The pop star is Britney Spears, and the offer follows an initial discussion between Spears and Simon Cowell, according to the report.

Cowell has been seeking more star power for the program after cutting judges Paula Abdul and Nicole Scherzinger following the show’s first season, the piece points out.

The offer would place Spears on par with what former "Mickey Mouse Clubhouse" star Christina Aguilera will make on the third season of the rival competition show "The Voice," the piece adds. It’s less than the $12 million earned by Jennifer Lopez on "American Idol" last season, the story points out.

Cowell has made public comments about his interest in Spears, noting, "She’s still hot, she’s still having hit records and she’s still controversial. There’s a reason for that," the piece adds.

  1. I’m sure Britney would draw in many fans, but for me I don’t think I’m interested.
