Discovery has tapped "Sons of Anarchy" creator Kurt Sutter to delve into the stories of outlaw dynasties such as the Italian mafia in the six-episode series "Kurt Sutter’s Outlaw Empires," reports TheWrap.com.

The series, set to debut May 14, will look at bikers and groups such as the Aryan Brotherhood, the piece adds.

"I’ve made a career writing about fictitious anti-heroes," Sutter said in a statement. "To create these worlds, I’ve spent a lot of time with active members on both sides of the law. And if I had to pick the most interesting of the two, the choice is obvious — we all love the guys in black."
