HLN Scraps Programming Segment

Apr 19, 2012  •  Post A Comment

After years of parceling out five-minute segments at the bottom of every half-hour to local news and programming, HLN has decided to dump the "Local Edition" portion of its broadcast, reports TVNewser.com.

HLN justified its decision in a statement to the website, saying, "Over the past several years, HLN has evolved its programming to focus more on long-form shows, changing the programming format where ‘Local Edition’ currently airs. After assessing viewer feedback, forgoing ‘Local Edition’ furthers our programming evolution and benefits the viewer experience.”

Some MSOs have indicated they will keep the "Local Edition" segments in some form. For example, Charter Communications said it will move the segment from HLN to its California Channel.
