Singer Mary J. Blige reflected on her decision to appear in a commercial for Burger King Wraps a few months ago and said she regrets that she ever participated, reports New York Magazine.

The ad, which was branded in the media and among some fans as not just racist but also just plain low quality, was immediately yanked in response to the public outcry. At the time, Blige said the commercial was unfinished. Now, however, she’s just sorry about the ad.

On Hot 97 radio, Blige said, "I want to apologize to everyone that was offended or thought that I would do something so disrespectful to our culture. … I thought I was doing something right, so forgive me.”

Blige also said, "It was a mistake, but I did it because I thought it was something that wouldn’t come out like that. It was sold to us that I would be shot in an iconic way. I was looking for someone to have mercy, but no one had mercy. It was a learning experience. It hurt my feelings. It crushed me for like two days.”
