Video: Former ‘Office’ Star Steve Carell Delivers an Odd Message to Princeton Grads

Steve Carell, the former star of NBC’s "The Office," addressed the 2012 graduates of Princeton University, telling them that they need to suffer and that they are wrong, reports TheWrap.com.

"When I was in college, I would not text a girl to ask her out on a date. I would ask her in person, one human to another," Carell said. "When she said no, which she always did, I would suffer the humiliation and self-loathing that a young man needs for his … personal growth."

Carell added that his point was, "I suffered, and you should have to suffer, too. You are young, and because of that, you are wrong."

Here’s a video of Carell’s address:

  1. Watch the video – it is funny, witty and so Steve Carell. It is not “odd” and the excerpts in this article are out of context. No one seemed upset, in fact everyone was laughing. That is why Steve Carell was a great choice – who wants to listen to some boring person say the same crap, blah, blah, blah, you’re graduating, make a difference, blah, blah, blah. I think whoever wrote this article didn’t even watch the speech.
