"The Simpsons" plans to make an episode written by writer and director Judd Apatow, who revealed in a Web interview that he wrote a script for the show while trying to break into Hollywood more than two decades ago, reports EW.com’s Inside TV.

After mentioning his spec script, the show’s producers contacted him about making the episode, the story notes. In Apatow’s script, which he wrote soon after the program debuted, Homer is hypnotized into thinking he’s Bart’s age and the pair become best friends.

"I thought, ‘Well, we’re always looking for good shows and good writers,’” said “Simpsons” executive producer Al Jean. “I sent word to him: ‘If you’re interested, we’ll buy it.’ I think he had to find it — it was in one of his boxes.”

Jean added, “For people who want to know how to write a freelance ‘Simpsons’ episode: Just do it, then have a megamilliondollar movie career and we’ll buy the spec.”
