Syfy has set a premiere date for a groundbreaking new series, according to The Hollywood Reporter’s Live Feed. The series is “Defiance,” which is scheduled to launch its 12-episode season on Monday, April 15, at 9 p.m.

“’Defiance’ bridges scripted television and online gaming for the first time,” the piece reports. “The series and the game feature an interconnected world and storylines that will launch later this year with the release of the game, ahead of the TV series debut.”

The show’s cast includes Grant Bowler, Julie Benz, Stephanie Leonidas, Tony Curran, Jaime Murray, Graham Greene and Mia Kirshner.

THR adds: “’Defiance’ introduces an exotically transformed planet Earth, its landscapes permanently altered following the sudden — and tumultuous — arrival of seven unique alien races.”
