"NBC News President Steve Capus announced today that he is leaving the network," writes media columnist Dylan Byers at Politico.com.
The article continues, " ‘It has been a privilege to have spent two decades here, but it is now time to head in a new direction,’ [Capus] wrote in a memo to staff, obtained by Politico. ‘I have informed Pat Fili-Krushel that I will be leaving NBC News in the coming weeks.’ "
Capus joined NBC News in 1993 and was named president of the division in 2005. Writes Byers, "Rumors of his departure have been circulating since Fili-Krushel was named Chairman of NBCUniversal News Group last year." Prior to Fili-Krushel’s appointment Capus reported directly to Steve Burke, CEO of NBCUniversal.
The Huffington Post story about Capus leaving notes: "Capus presided over a relatively stable time at NBC News. It remained, for most of his tenure, the top-rated news network on television, though in the last year ‘Today’ has fallen behind its competitors and ‘Meet the Press’ has seen its ratings squeezed."
good riddance!!
