The French version of "Survivor" has been shelved after the death of one of the participants in the show, Deadline.com reports.

Called "Koh-Lanta" in France, the show was in its 16th season when Gerald Babin, 25, died after suffering a heart attack during shooting in Cambodia following a "shipwreck" challenge. Production halted immediately and other contestants were flown back to Paris.

The 16th season was slated to air in the fall, but the show "will not take place in 2013," network TF1 said.
