HBO’s "Game of Thrones" tapped a well-known rock group to record a rowdy tavern song that recurs throughout George R.R. Martin’s books. The Hollywood Reporter’s Live Feed reports that the Hold Steady will record the song, "The Bear and the Maiden Fair."

The song will be released on a limited-edition 7-inch April 20, also known as Record Store Day 2013, and will be featured in the third season of the show. Show co-creators and showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss asked the band to record the song.

“This is one of the most popular songs in Westeros, beloved by nobles and commoners alike, sung at taverns and feasts and etc.," Benioff and Weiss said in statement. "We wanted our rendition to be bawdy and a little sloppy — drunken musicians getting up on the table and jamming while the rowdy party continues around them. There was no one better for the job than the Hold Steady, and the song they delivered has been stuck in our heads for the last four weeks.”
