TLC reality star Honey Boo Boo is in a dispute with the Girl Scouts of the USA, which is trying to stop her from selling Girl Scout cookies, reports TMZ.com.
The problem is that Honey Boo Boo, whose real name is Alana Thompson, isn’t a Girl Scout. But she agreed to help a friend of hers sell cookies by placing a banner ad on her Facebook page, soliciting sales from her 700,000 fans, the story adds.
The Girl Scouts say it isn’t fair to other Scouts trying to sell cookies, and Honey Boo Boo reportedly removed the banner.
Thompson’s mother, June, said they are doing nothing wrong and indicated she plans to continue selling. "If I can raise more money for a troop, whoever they are, especially in an area where they don’t get a lot of money, and parents can’t afford to buy a ton of cookies, why wouldn’t I help?" she said, according to the story.
The piece reported early Thursday that orders were pouring in, with 400 boxes of cookies already sold.
