Amid reports that NBC will replace Jay Leno with Jimmy Fallon at "The Tonight Show" when Leno’s contract expires, the show’s ratings have reached a seven-week high, reports EW.com’s Inside TV.

For the week of March 18-22 the show drew 3.52 million viewers, Leno’s best week since Jan. 28-Feb. 1, and reached a four-week high with viewers 18 to 49, the story says.

The piece adds, "The ratings bump for the week of March 18-22 came as Leno began taking nightly jabs at his employers — like referring to them as snakes — as news hit that a succession plan was in the works to replace him with Jimmy Fallon."

NBC hasn’t yet confirmed the plan for Fallon to take over, the story adds.
