ABC Family has renewed a comedy series. The Hollywood Reporter’s Live Feed reports that the cable channel will bring back "Melissa & Joey" for a fourth season.
The channel also gave a back order to the show for an additional 20 episodes for season three. The order pushes the show past the 100-episode mark.
The show is the first ABC Family comedy to reach 100 episodes, the piece notes. The show, which features Melissa Joan Hart playing a politician and Joey Lawrence as her manny, is set to debut its third season today, May 29. The newly ordered second half of the season will air in 2014.
"One-hundred episodes is a great accomplishment for any series, and we are thrilled to give ‘Melissa & Joey’ the opportunity to achieve this milestone, as they’ve delivered hundreds and hundreds of laughs over the seasons,” said Kate Juergens, executive vice president programming and development at ABC Family.
A decision on the future of "Bunheads" will come in the next few weeks, after the network has reviewed its summer programming, the piece notes.
