A character actor who appeared on TV shows including "Dallas" and "Lou Grant" has died, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Laurence Haddon was 90.

Haddon had a landmark role as a gay man on "Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman," one of the first non-stereotypical gay characters on TV, the story notes. In one episode from 1976, neighbors catch him kissing another man, whom they had believed was his brother. The couple later talks about getting married.

Haddon appeared as J.R. Ewing’s banker Franklin Horner on "Dallas" and as the foreign editor on "Lou Grant." Other TV appearances included "Dr. Kildare," "Hill Street Blues" and "The Rockford Files."
