AMC Drama Takes Early Hiatus After Disaster Halts Production

The AMC drama "Hell on Wheels" started its hiatus early after having production disrupted by a natural disaster. Deadline.com reports that producers made the decision after the show’s sets were flooded by rising water in the Calgary area.

As previously reported, taping was suspended last week after an epic storm and flooding prompted mandatory evacuations in parts of Calgary, although at that point the set hadn’t been affected. The set was subsequently flooded as torrential rains continued in the area and the waters rose, claiming lives as the region braced for additional flooding.

The set is located near the Bow and Highwood rivers, both of which reportedly breached their banks.

The cast in crew were flying back to their homes from Calgary, the story notes. The drama had been previously slated to start its hiatus this Thursday.
