One of the legends of rock ‘n’ roll is teaming with director Martin Scorsese on a new project for HBO. TheWrap.com reports that the project comes from Scorsese and Rolling Stones frontman Mick Jagger.

"Boardwalk Empire" actor Bobby Cannavale is in talks for a role in the untitled project, the piece notes. The project is about a record executive in New York City during the 1970s, when punk, disco and hip-hop were all part of the music scene.

The project, which is in development at HBO, is executive produced by Scorsese, Jagger and Terence Winter. Scorsese is set to direct the pilot, which is written by Winter. Also executive producing are Victoria Pearman and Rick Yorn.

On "Boardwalk Empire," Cannavale played Giuseppe "Gyp" Rosetti.
