"Breaking Bad" creator Vince Gilligan talked in an interview about a spinoff of the cult AMC series, saying the project is moving "full speed ahead," TheWrap.com reports.

"It’s not a done deal yet, but it’s definitely something we’re full speed ahead on trying to get going," Gilligan said.

The final eight episodes of the original series are set to air starting Aug. 11.

The spinoff is focused on the show’s scheming attorney, Saul Goodman, played by Bob Odenkirk. Gilligan and writer Peter Gould are still trying to figure out whether the spinoff will be sequel or a prequel.

"We are plugging away, coming up with a pitch and a take on it for the network and studio, and hopefully everyone will agree that there’s a really fun show to be had here," Gilligan told the publication. "And hopefully we’ll get it up and running, and then Peter will run it. I’d love to see that happen."

Gilligan noted that the show has the potential to be either a half-hour, with more comedic elements, or an hour-long program akin to "Breaking Bad."

"As you can imagine with Saul Goodman as a character, a show like that would have to have plenty of humor to it. But also because he works for some pretty scary clientele sometimes, there’d be a bit of drama in it as well. We’re trying to nail that down," he said.

If the show is a prequel, there’s a chance that Giancarlo Esposito, who played Gus Fring, could return.

"Any chance I get to work with Giancarlo again, I would jump at the opportunity. He is a wonderful actor and such a sweet guy," Gilligan said.
