CBS Sees Viewer Numbers Slip

CBS saw its viewer numbers droop on a couple of fronts Sunday night, including getting a mediocre turnout for the season premiere of "Unforgettable," based on Nielsen overnights for the key 18-49 demo. But the network still did well enough to tie Univision for first place for prime time overall in the demo, while coasting to an easy win in total viewers.

TVbytheNumbers.com reports that the "Unforgettable" premiere delivered a 1.3 average in 18-49, well below the 2.0 averaged by the season-one finale. CBS’s "Big Brother," which has generally been up in recent weeks, was down Sunday, slipping three-tenths of a point from a week ago to a 2.2 — still enough to rank as the top broadcast show of the night. "60 Minutes" pulled in a 1.0, and a repeat of "The Mentalist" at 10 p.m. had a 0.7.

Fox aired an all-repeat "Animation Domination" lineup and finished close behind in third place in the 18-49 demo. ABC’s season finale of "Celebrity Wife Swap" ticked up one-tenth from a week ago to a 1.1, while its "Whodunnit?" ticked up one-tenth from last week’s series low to a 1.1.

NBC rolled out mostly repeats, with a new installment of "Crossing Lines" equaling last week’s series low with a 0.5 average in viewers 18-49.

For prime time overall, CBS and Univision led the way with 1.3 average ratings in adults 18-49, followed by Fox (1.2 average), ABC (0.9) and NBC (0.7). CBS was well out front in total viewers with 6.7 million, followed by ABC (3.3 million), Univision (3.3 million), NBC (3.0 million) and Fox (2.6 million).
