The Los Angeles Superior Court delayed a motion for a restraining order by NBC Universal seeking to prevent Pat O’Brien from actively promoting “The Insider.” The hearing will now take place July 23, as the court waits for more information pertaining to the case.

A statement from NBC Universal Television Distribution read: “In court papers we filed today, we sought to enforce the terms we had in place with Mr. O’Brien, who still remains under contract with ‘Access Hollywood.’ Although the court denied our request for an immediate restraining order today, stating it needed more information on the matter, it did set an expedited hearing for July 23. At that time, we hope the court will grant the order we are seeking.”

The studio maintains that Mr. O’Brien is in breach of the exclusivity provisions on his “Access” contract, which doesn’t expire until the end of August, though he has already joined Paramount’s upcoming “Entertainment tonight” spinoff “The Insider.”
