UPN to Run TLC Audition Show

UPN is planning a reality-based music show that will pluck a female signer from obscurity and put her into the band TLC. The eight-week series, “R U the Girl with T-Boz & Chilli,” eliminates contestants until there’s only one, who will then join surviving members T-Boz and Chilli for an upcoming concert and record with them in the studio. The third TLC band member, Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes, died in a car accident in 2002.

The four-time Grammy Award-winning TLC is considered one of the most successful R&B groups of all time, with 33 million albums sold worldwide, nine top 10 singles on the Billboard Top 100, five of which hit No. 1, and two No. 1 albums on the Billboard 200.

The series, which is produced by Fox Television Studios, does not currently have an airdate.
